Kickstarting a Rap Music Video as MR. CHINATOWN

Skills Engaged: Used social media, email campaigns, and proactive communication to raise over $3,000 on Kickstarter to shoot, edit, and pay actors for MR. CHINATOWN Music Video that was screened at several Film Festivals and won the Music Video Category.

MR. CHINATOWN started as a rap song but has turned into a community lead movement to Stop Anti-Asian hate crimes and rhetoric. Surprisingly and unsurprisingly, many of these crimes have happened in San Francisco, the home of many Asian elderly people. By taking a stand through MR. CHINATOWN VIDEO, we changed the online discourse in film and music on platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram/meta.
